Found in a thrift store...she was in need of something... Maybe a little paint...?? A good cleaning...?? A few minor repairs...?? This little desk needed all of the above...so I decided to fix her up! Keeping the desk top natural...a fresh coat of paint was all she needed to become a stunning addition to our home. This sad little desk was at the thrift store, but I just knew she could be something special...
Some water damage on the legs and sides was no match for a little wood filler.
I stripped off the dark finish.
This desk had so many great little details...I could hardly wait to get my paint brushes out... I planned to use an antique brown glaze to age the paint, and to highlight all the great carvings.
After a few coats of creamy white paint... and she looked like a "new" well- loved vintage desk.
The brown antiquing glaze settled nicely into the grooves, highlighting all of her charm.
I left the desk top natural, and stained it a warm brown, and then applied wax.
It was so worth the little bit of effort to make-over this vintage desk!
