I bought this old, decrepit nightstand. I knew I could transform it. When I went to buy pulls to update this, I became inspired by what I found. I found knobs that sparked my imagination.I cleaned it up and got to work. I sanded the top to the wood. The original holes for the drawer pulls were filled with wood filler. I drilled holes in the middle for the new knobs.
I spray painted the top with a copper color.
Next step, I pulled out the textured border paper I had left over from another project and glued it to the sides, using Aleene's Tacky glue on the back and Modge Podge on the front.
I cut off the border on the paper and glued and Modge Podged it on the bottom of each drawer.
Using my DIY chalk paint recipe in black, I gave this piece 3 coats of paint.
Then I took copper color wax and highlighted the raised areas of the paper.
The nightstand was waxed with clear and dark wax. The inspiration knobs are in place.
The nightstand doesn't look the same.
