Dining Table & Chairs Makeover

This was an unexpected project that we took on. No regrets though. We're very happy with the end result and happy that we got to bring this Dining Table set home and keep it in the family.
You know I'm just one of those people that hates to see things thrown out or given to the Goodwill if they could possibly have a purpose or a second life in our home. I'm happy that my sister thought of us when she was getting ready to donate her Pier 1 Imports dining table and chairs. Honestly we were already planning on purchasing a new set and started scouting Craigslist for something to work on ourselves. But we got lucky and even though these chairs and table are from Pier 1, they'd been around a while and needed some work.

These actually already had a rustic red and black wash to them. The red was underneath the black to show through. Not of my taste. Plus there was cup rings and plate rings imprinted on the table top from years of use and even some scratches. But the frame and structure of table and chairs were in mint condition. All they needed was a good sanding and new coat of paint (several coats actually).





But first we had to sell our old dining table (we kept the chairs because I'm not ready to part from them yet). I placed the ad on Craigslist and sold the table the same day. We'd had it for a good 3 1/2 years. Living in an apartment at the time, the size and look was ideal but now in our slightly bigger but not too big of a home, we needed something more mature and that actually suited our family.
