I was inspired by Susan Myers' post http://www.hometalk.com/13759546/how-to-make-... !!! I actually went to her Etsy store to purchase one of her "Gossip Hens," but she was all sold out at the time so I decided to try my hand at making one for myself. I don't have gourds, nor do I know anyone that has them...so I purchased 3 from EBay for $5 each. I already had many bottles of craft paint for other projects, so the only other expense was the polymer clay which I found on sale at Michael's.Meet"Estelle!" She's finally done after a couple weeks of painting a little bit every night until I thought she was done. I went a little nutso designing her, but it's my first one so I figured I'd go all out.
It was a lot of fun doing a little bit every night after work...I found it quite therapeutic and relaxing as well!
I thought about making her some little tail feathers...I still might...
My favorite design is actually that "plaid" paisley...that one was a lot of fun!
The only thing left to do is add a little flower to her head. My husband says he wants me to make him a chef one for his office...and with the third gourd, I'm thinking of doing just a polka-dotted one. Anyway, WELCOME, ESTELLE, to my kitchen!!! :-) And THANK YOU, Susan Myers, for the inspiration!!!
