I happened upon this great big kitchen drawer - they are solid wood.It is in good shape and I took the handle off and filled the holes on top. This will end up being a donated TV stand for a person who is getting her own apt., having recently been moved out of a nursing home.
The drawers had been painted, but the paint was easily covered once I added two shelves and a base bottom.
The base helped stabilize the bottom, because this will end up being a TV stand and book-case for the person who is getting it.
I had these shelves from another project that someone was going to throw away. Just cut to size. They were nailed in, until I could screw in from the sides. I then filled in the screw holes and painted.
This happened to be a super-large drawer! See that we drilled a round hole in the back of the top shelf so a plug-powered item can be put onto the shelf. DVD players are super-small now and will fit on the shelf!
I will be donating the stand and the TV to this woman, who is getting to move into her apartment! I used a can of OOPS paint-and-primer in one, and then sprayed it with satin clear spray paint to seal. Total cost: $6.00 for the whole project.
This project took about 2 hours total, not counting the paint. Like my view?
