Soon this piece will be totally transformed into a kitchen island with a barnwood top, chicken wire doors, and opening in the center, an extension on the side, and with wheels...I might have left out a thing or two but you get the picture! :)This is where it begins....
The tearing apart begins....the center portion will be opened up. Since the shelf goes across the entire piece it will be taken out, side walls will be added to the center and the shelf will be cut for each end.
This is a view from the back...sidewalls were added and shelves were cut...there will also be a new back put on with the center portion open.
Soon the door panels will be removed for the chicken wire.

Wheels were added to the bottom with new boards going around the bottom so the wheels are hidden, an extension for the top was added, and wainscoting. Soon the barnwood top will be in the making!
Here are some pieces of barnwood just laid out on the top, they will be glued and doweled together. The drawers will be getting new handles so the holes were all filled in and sanded. It's painted with my favorite paint, Annie Sloan's chalk paint.
It's all put together, and urethaned. I am so in love with barnwood, it's an obsession!!! :)
A barnwood shelf was added to the center too. It's all finished with new handles and all.

Hooks were added to the side for towels or potholders, etc.
