Got Old Drawers?

I love finding solid wood drawers in the garbage or at garage sales. I have even carried a few home from my morning dog walks. I have great visions on turning discarded items into beautiful home decor shelves or storage.

These kitchen drawers were sitting on the curb waiting for trash pick-up and I snatched them up and carried them home. Cut a few boards to fit as additional shelving, glued and nailed them into place and painted to give them a beautiful makeover.





These added the perfect charm I needed for my dining room. I love to change the decor in them every season.





These drawers were left over from a dresser that I turned into a media center. You won't believe the makeover I did on the media center, they look nothing like these old ugly chunky things. Stop over to my blog to see them, and do a search for media centers.
I removed the plastic fronts on the drawers and made a raised stencil using embossing cream. Stop over for more details on how to do this.
The end result is stunning, they look like carved wood.





I made each one of them different to give them character.
I love that you can use them for so many storage needs in your home. Now you will think twice before passing by some old drawers sitting on the side of the road.
