My daughter is a chip off the old block...she's a crafter like her momma! And, she has almost as many 'tools' and 'supplies' as I have. I'm always looking for thrifty ways to keep her organized. Have you seen the new Diet Coke brightly colored cans and bottles? I thought they were too cute to throw out! Using just a few supplies, I three cans into a functional for my daughter's collection of markers and pencils. The first step was drinking the soda, hehe. Not hard to do when I pour it over ice, add a maraschino cherry and some cherry juice! Ahh, sublime! But, I digress. After drinking the soda and rinsing out the cans, I removed the tops with a can opener. Don't use an expensive gadget, the cheap ones work better and leave a smooth edge with no sharp edges!
Next, I attached the three soda cans to a dowel rod using my favorite glue for this application (click on the link below to see what kind of glue I used).
I made sure the cans were evenly spaced, and wrapped some twine around them to ensure they stayed in place while the glue dried. I used some sweet chalkboard tags and a hole punch to add labels to the cans. Click on the post below to read some awesome tips for using chalk and getting bright white letters!
