I discovered a product last year that is so versatile and fun to play with that I have used it over and over for different projects. The product is Unicorn Spit. With a name like that…I had to try it. It can be found at www.unicornspit.comUnicorn Spit is a non-toxic, jasmine-scented, wood stain and glaze in one. I love doing projects with my 3 year old granddaughter, as it is safe to use and there is no such thing as a bad outcome. We have used this product on canvas and a small wooden TV tray together (a Christmas present for her mom). She is so excited when we start a new project, because the outcome is always amazing.
We made a TV tray for her mom using this product. I base coated the table in black and then let her work her magic. After the table was dry, I added some embellishments such as glitter, metallic foils and her name and date and used a pour on 2-part epoxy to topcoat it. I used Famowood epoxy (this part of the project was NOT kid friendly and I did it when she was asleep). The epoxy gave the equivalent of 70 coats of varnish and looks like a permanent sheet of glass over her project. I knew her mom would be thrilled with her piece of art and I wanted it to last forever.
I loved doing the galaxy design so much that I decided to make it part of a business. I decided to try to duplicate the galaxy design in miniature on custom furniture/cabinet knobs. I paint my design on wooden knobs and then epoxy them for durability and shine. I am having so much fun designing knobs to suit any decor. I am selling my knobs at www.lauriebrennancreates.etsy.com
Hop on over to my blog for lots more projects and some detailed instructions. I hope you have as much fun as my granddaughter and I have had playing with it!
