Cottage Mudroom with Handpainted Flooring

We took our unfinished breezeway and transformed it into useable space: a mudroom for our family of five! We used the existing footprint but removed three doors, a window, and opened up the space to our home with a doorway. We added a new wood door leading to the exterior, drywalled the space, and added heat and electrical. We added custom lockers, this bench area with extra storage, and a Command Center.

We created six custom lockers (one for each family member and one for our new pup!). Each locker has open space at the bottom (basket for shoes) and at the top (off-season gear). Inside each locker is a bench, charging station, and hooks. The puppy's lockers has all of his gear and food in it! We created arched openings and added trim on the locker sides to create a more high-end look.

We created a Command Center in the corner! It has mailboxes for everyone, a bulletin board, device charging station, mail center, and homework drop area. In the cabinets are three pull-out recycle bins and mail/school supplies.

To save money we kept the existing concrete floors! I hand painted them in a floral design using porch paint and sealing with four coats of clear epoxy. The whole thing cost only $80 of materials (and 20 hours of my time)!
